Barcelona
Barcelona is effortlessly queer-friendly. From the rainbow flags flying in Eixample to the topless beaches of Barceloneta, this is a city that welcomes LGBTQ+ travellers without a second thought. There’s no need to look over your shoulder here - same-sex couples walk hand-in-hand through Gothic alleyways, flirt over sangria in Plaça Reial, and dance into the early hours at venues that have been flying the flag for decades.
Spain has some of the most progressive LGBTQ+ laws in the world, and Barcelona takes that seriously, not just on paper, but in practice. You’ll find hotels, cafés and cab drivers all familiar with LGBTQ+ guests, and you’re far more likely to get a smile than a side-eye. Of course, every city has its off-moments, but in Barcelona, queerness is woven into the fabric - bold, stylish, and unapologetic.

Getting From A to Gay (Or B, or Z...)
Metro – Safe, easy, and efficient. Staff are helpful, signage is clear, and you’re unlikely to run into issues related to gender or presentation.
Taxis & rideshares – Uber is limited, but Free Now works well. Local taxis are plentiful and safe, just avoid flagging one around big football events if things get rowdy.
Walking – One of the best walking cities in Europe. PDA is common, especially in queer areas like Eixample and Raval.
Biking – Barcelona’s bike share system (Bicing) is good, but locals tend to use their own. Some hotels offer them too.
