London

London isn’t just LGBTQ+ friendly, it’s historically and globally significant to queer life. Same-sex marriage? Legal. Gender recognition? In place (if imperfect). Pride? A full-on festival stretching from Soho to the South Bank.

That said, it’s a big city, and experiences can vary depending on where you are. In central areas, couples of all identities and expressions walk hand-in-hand without raising eyebrows. But, as with any major metropolis, it pays to stay aware, especially late at night or outside of the bubble. Whether you’re here for the drag, the culture, the nightlife or just a rainy stroll along the Thames, London’s got you.

The essentials

Let’s talk legal. The UK scores high on LGBTQ+ rights, and London leads the way.

Getting From A to Gay (Or B, or Z...)

Tube & Trains - Generally safe, especially in daylight and central zones. Transport for London has LGBTQ+ awareness campaigns, and staff are trained. Holding hands won’t turn heads, though late nights can get rowdy.

Taxis & Rideshares - Uber and Bolt operate citywide. For discretion or preference, you can request female drivers. Licensed black cabs are a safe bet.

Walking - Central London is walkable and well-lit. PDA is common and safe in most areas like Soho, Southbank, and Hackney, though do read the room in quieter or outer boroughs.
